From the live music capital of the world, Livid Instruments announced the release of the Code, the company's newest MIDI control instrument. The Code differs from other controllers by Livid Instruments, in that it offers a push-button encoder grid that adds valuable knob turns to trigger actions.

About the Code controller, the company's software director Peter Nyboer comments, "Since the release of our first Ohm model, a lot of customers have been asking for a knob-intensive controller." He continues, "We like the compactness of potentiometers, but it seemed too simple, and maybe a better DIY project than a final product. So we took our time and developed a thoughtful and extremely flexible controller unlike anything else on the market." With the Code, Livid Instruments asks you to think outside the grid.

The Code sports an array of 32 encoders with LED rings, unified with push buttons with a separate LED for the button feedback; going further, 13 back-light rubber buttons surround the encoder grid for additional features and functionality. The new unit is housed in a portable aluminum enclosure with hand-crafted mahogany wood sides, and Livid’s signature, streamlined styling.

According to the manufacturer, the Code was designed to set a new standard for other products to come in the future. The controller features addressable LED rings, MIDI in and out jacks, push button encoders, a firmware bootloader, and an editor that lets you change all of the settings and encoder modes. In addition, the firmware is open source for expandability and customization.

Handcrafted in the Livid Instruments shop in Austin, Texas, the Code provides hands-on control over software such as Ableton Live, Cycling '74 Max / MSP, Properllerhead Reason and Record, Native instruments Traktor, and more.
