Livid Instruments IPad Block Station Controller Debuts
How would you like to have a dedicated, sturdy controller (and holder) built especially for your iPad? If that sounds good to you, have a look at Livid Instruments Block Station, an iPad controller that is basically an extended version of the original Livid Instruments Block controller.
The Block is a matrix-based controller made of aluminum and wood. For iPad users, the Block Station is that much and more; the Block Station is wider than the standard Block, with a slot that can accommodate an iPad or even a Netbook of the same size. Note that the Block Station does not power the iPad, it simply holds it and makes it easier to use and view both units at the same time.
Aside from its size and weight, the Block Station has the same features as the original Block controller. The USB-powered unit offers MIDI I/O, talkback, 64 programmable backlight buttons, programmable MIDI mapping, expansion jacks for additional connections, two 1/4" jacks for Roland-style foot pedals, and more. It comes with open Source software tools to create your own LED talkback interaction, an editor for MIDI editing and LED talkback programming, and a USB cable.
