Livid Instruments Block Programmable MIDI Control Surface
Designed for interactive audio performance, Livid Instruments Block ($399) is a compact and programmable MIDI control surface with a bidirectional and adaptable platform like the Ohm64. The Block has 64 backlight led buttons in a square layout, which provide Tenori-on-like visual feedback when it's connected to MIDI Learn supported software, such as Ableton Live or Cycling '74 Max / Msp.
Bidirectional talkback communication allows the Block to talk to your software and vice versa. The USB-powered controller is completely programable and mappable and can be used with any software or setup that supports MIDI Learn. The controller’s 64 clip buttons, 8 knobs, 2 faders, and 7 function buttons may be reprogrammed via the open source blockEditor application.
The Block, made of lightweight wood and aluminum, weighs in at 3 pounds and measures 10.25" x 10.25" x 1.5". Livid Instruments expects to release the Block in November, 2009.
