Logic 8 Vocal Transformer and Robot Fun
Bill Holland is at it again, playing around with a solemn quote from the science fiction classic, "This Island Earth." The Logic 8 Vocal Transformer lets you add various amounts and shades of robot-ness to all manner of Shakespearean-trained vocals. Get the specifics in this Gearwire video.
BILL HOLLAND: Welcome back to Gearwire.Com. My name is Bill Holland and we’re in Logic looking at a plugin called the Vocal Transformer. I’ve got a sound clip here loaded up that I’m going to play back with a dry signal. You’ll see I bypassed it right now.

Now, Vocal Transformer works similar to a basic vocoder. Right now I can either modify the actual voice itself or use Robot Eyes to modulate the voice. To play it back real quick just by taking the pitch down a little bit and changing up the formant...

...and then take the formant up.

Now, I can also switch up the dry and wet signal here.

I can also change the pitch base here, but you’ll notice it’s disabled so in order to use that, we have to turn on Robot Eyes.

And now you can change the pitch base and the tracking.

Now, I can change up the tracking and mess around with the pitch base to get a different result. So, if we go -1 on the tracking...

...and then I adjust the pitch --

And playing around with this in automation, you can get a lot of interesting results from this particular plugin.

Now, there are a series of presets you can select. If you go here, there is Drum Loop, Transforms, Voices, and Warp Voices. So for example, Plasma Tunnel Alien would sound like this.

Or Deep Transient Gate.

We also have Bright Transient Gate...

...and you can go to voices and you do things like for rap you can have a female rap track.

Basically, it’s just a slightly detuned voice. It makes your voice seem bigger and deeper because you’ve actually pitched down part of it but you have two going at once. There’s also you can do ensemble voice.

And this would be very swell on a singing track. So, it’s a pretty basic overview of how to use that. That’s the Vocal Transformer. If I go up to my channel strip, you can see that I can select channel strip. I can also go to view and select controls, and now I have all of the controls available which I can automate in Logic, and everything is editable from the window by using these arrows or the sliders, a much easier way to control this particular plugin.
Well, this is Gearwire.Com, and my name is Bill Holland. We are in Logic with the Vocal Transformer.

Wish the video image wouldn't shake as much though.
fixed it
there were four like this. It's the panning option in the screencap program i'm using . I just did a demo of the new wallender brass, and it looks great.
Obviously you don't know how
Obviously you don't know how it works and what is it made for !
Take some acapella of someone singing.
Click on "Robotize".
On the track, create an automation on "pitch".
Now you can completely transform the way the vocals are sang, creating a new melodie.
Here's a remix I've done with completely new vocal line :
