ELLIOT: Hey everybody. My name is Elliot. I’m the product manager for the Black Box at M-Audio. We recently reloaded the Black Box with more features and I can tell you a little bit about those now. The original Black Box had 12 amp models. We are now up to 40. It had less than a hundred effects I believe before, and now we’re over 120 effects. It’s also a USB audio interface which is compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered. So, currently it’s the only guitar-centric audio interface that will get you into Pro Tools.
We’re announcing at the show a bundle with Pro Tools software and plugin packages. They’re called the Guitar Box and the Guitar Box Pro. They retail for $695 and $495 respectively, and each bundle comes with over $1,000 of plugins, so for $695 or $495 you can get either bundle that comes with the Black Box hardware and the Pro Tools M-Powered software along with a pretty great suite of plugins.
So, if anybody is totally unfamiliar with the Black Box so I can tell you some of the great features of it. The main feature that I really like is that it is -- it has beat synced effects. It means that any time-based effect that you play can be synced to the tempo. There’s an internal drum machine which can work as a metronome for you to hear the effects actually working in time. It’ll also accept MIDI beat clock, so upon working on Pro Tools and I push play the MIDI beat clock will be sent over to the Black Box and it will synced up and everything will be great.

You can hear the delay.

If I start the drum machine, you’ll be able to hear the delays are syncing up with the drums.

Here, the repeats of the delay are totally gone...

...to the beat with different kinds of delays. Not only are there delays but there’s all kinds of modulating effects too.

We’ll go for tremolo. The tremolos have always been really difficult to sync to a drummer or a drum machine.

You can hear [PLAYS A CHORD] the tremolos completely syncing up with the drum machine.

You can do triplets...,

It will go all the way up to two measures depending on the tempo. That’s a really cool feature. It’s also got some really interesting effects like the arpeggiator that’s in there. I’ll show you. So, a lot of you have probably heard this on the John Mayer song that’s on the radio that you couldn’t get away form recently. It’s also got a tap tempo so I can actually just tap something in and get a faster tempo.

Creating an effect that you won’t find anywhere else.

SO, you get all the cool beat-synced effects, it’s in a great M-Audio interface. It’s the only thing for guitar players that will get you into Pro Tools software. That’s the Black Box.
