M-Audio Torq Xponent: If The Loop Ain't Broken, Break It So You Can Fix It
If you're one of those people who eats loops for breakfast, and you've already had your fill of the first two videos on the M-Audio Torq Xponent, hopefully you saved room for more. Bill Holland finishes his examination of the looping functions on the M-Audio Torq Xponent with a look into some of the more advanced syncing options.
You can literally sync up everything but the kitchen sink. . . I bet that one solicited some hearty chuckles!
BILL HOLLAND: So now let’s go back to this.

I’m going to find that same point in this recording.

And the nice thing is Torq remembers your audio files. So, if this happens with one of your audio files, it will actually save your marker settings so you can do this.

Okay. Here we go.

Remember, if you don’t want to hear that, I can use it this way.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
Okay.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
There’s something to notice is here is I’ve actually set this button to be my set point for these cue points, so.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
Okay. So now we have two loops. Let’s see how we can work these together.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
Notice how we’re out of sync.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
And now I’m going to change up the loop.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
If you want this side to follow that side, I can sync it, and now it’s synced.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
Okay. So, you’ll notice that I flubbed a little bit here and I hit the out button, but we’re going -- That’s fine. I mean we’re done with that loop for now. Something else that we can do is if they are synced, they’ll follow pitch.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
So watch this.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
But if they’re not synced, they won’t follow each other.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
Now they’re all out of whack.
[BILL HOLLAND PLAYING AND MANIPULATING “IT’S A WAR” BY KANO USING THE M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT]
And the same with pitch.

So, that’s basic looping with the M-Audio Xponent with Torq. In the next video, I’m going to take a quick look at the effects and how you can do some quick assigns and really get the most out of both the effects and sampling capabilities of the software and hardware. But for now, I’m Bill Holland and this is Gearwire.Com.
