For chest-thumping low end, turn to the new Mackie Thump TH-18s powered subwoofer, the companion sub to the Thump TH-15A powered loudspeaker. According to Mackie, the TH-18s subwoofer offers many of the same benefits as the Thump full-range model. This lightweight Thumper has a ported bass reflex design, outputs 1,000W of peak power, and features Class-D Fast Recovery amplification, which lets you push into clipping without getting a lot of distortion.

Furthermore, the TH-18s sports an 18-inch woofer, a precision crossover (125 Hz) and tuning filters for accurate bass response, and full-range and highpass stereo outputs for connection to full-range top boxes. It has dual XLR inputs for mono or stereo applications; user-adjustable level and polarity controls; and individual power, signal, OL, and thermal protect indicators.

The sub's integrated pole-cup can accommodate a standard mounting pole, which makes it easy to mount a loudspeaker to it; a full-range box can also be stacked on top. The Thump TH-18s is housed in a solid plywood enclosure and weighs 73 pounds.

Mackie will begin shipping the Thump TH-18s this month for $879.99 MSRP.
