Audio Interview: Marcus Ryle Of Line 6

June 30, 2006
Gearwire talks with Marcus Ryle, founder of Line 6 and mastermind behind much of the physical modeling revolution that has virtualized what seems like the entire history of amps and effects -- and more recently even guitars and basses -- and crammed it into small electronic boxes. When he founded Line 6 ten years ago, one of Ryle's major concerns was that guitar players were getting "short-changed with regard to technology," especially compared to keyboard players. Ryle tells how Line 6 endeavored to change all that, and he describes the process and challenges of creating realistic instrument, amp, and effects models. Good stuff.
Presenter: Marcus Ryle (Line 6)
