Marek Design KS3: Extremely German Tube Microphone

November 16, 2007
Marek Design KS3

Marek Design has come out with the new KS3 tube microphone. The KS3 is completely hand built with a true pressure transducer for a condenser mic system featuring a warm, three-dimensional, transparent sound.

The KS3 has an omnidirectional polar pattern with a slightly directional effect. It's great for picking up the dynamic range of orchestral music and is also fit for recording acoustic instruments like piano, acoustic guitar, violin, and as an overhead mic on drum sets.

The dynamic range of the KS3 is 132 dB with an extended range of 159 dB for reproduction of unrestrained musical expression. It's able to accept maximum sound pressure levels of 173 dB -- handling pretty much anything you throw at it.

Like other Marek models, the output is both line and mic level, so no mic preamp is necessary, but its definitely usable. The KS3 comes with an integrated shock mount for easy handling. All tubes are hand-selected non-microphonic original NOS Special Quality longlife tubes.
