Marshall Bluesbreaker II

April 25, 2006
Some pretty tasty SRV-esque tones emerge from the Marshall Bluesbreaker II, as well as a fairly convincing Eric Clapton "woman tone." As far as blues overdrive effects go, this one's on the high-gain side of the spectrum, but if you're really in a down-and-out, someone-done-you-wrong, gut-busting blues kind of mood, it might just get your mojo rising. Or some such.
Check out the Marshall Bluesbreaker II page at the official Marshall website.

ROB MATH: For something a little bit more on the vintage side, we have the Bluesbreaker. This gives you the distortion characteristics of one of nine Master Volume Marshalls, very reminiscent of an older Plexi or a Bluesbreaker combo, hence the name. and one of the cool things is that the feel really changes between the pedals. Let’s check out the Bluesbreaker.

Even on the back humbucker it has a nice [PLAYS A NOTE] sag to it, a switch [PLAYS A NOTE] kind of feel [PLAYS A COUPLE OF NOTES]. Great for legato lines.

And you can really get a lot more drive out of it to get that kind of Eric Clapton “Woman” type tone.

Really a very cool pedal. It gives it the harmonic response of one of the older Master Volume amps and has a looser type of feel to it.
