MaxMSP Developed Pmix Offers A Graphical Way To Add Effects to Your Audio

Oli Larkin has developed a new application in Max/MSP that takes vst plugins, and allows you to assign any parameter to a 2-D graphical interface. Now, you can assign, group and automate any software effects in any way you choose.

The advantage to this, of course, is that a Lemur-like interface is now at your fingertips without the cost. Other similar applications have recently been developed in Max, and the interface resembles many other predecessors.

Keeping with the freeware theme, I downloaded Sugarbytes' Artillery and tested assigning different parameters within Pmix. I was presently surprised to find that adding and saving presets was extremely simple, and automating quite fluid as well.

The only real disadvantage to Pmix is the lack of au and instrument device support. However, Oli Larkin has promised that au and instrument devices will be supported in the near future.

This application is only available for Mac OSX.
