Maxon 9-Series AD-9 Pro Analog Delay Introduced
Maxon's new 9-series pedals include the AD-9 Pro Analog Delay, a new stompbox dedicated to bringing real analog delay in a world where everything's gone digital, but ironically tries to sound like it's not. Counterintuitive? Maxon thinks so.
The new AD-9 Pro Analog Delay improves on previous Maxon delays to get the nicest sound and greatest reliability. It contains four of Maxon's own MC4107D bucket brigade IC's to produce a pure, crystal-clear analog delay capable of up to 450 milliseconds of delay time. The AD-9 Pro also utilizes the first RMS level sensor and companding noise reduction system for very transparent analog delay.
Another improvement on the AD-9 Pro over not only Maxon delays, but analog delays in general, is the reduction of aliasing and clock noises to a scant minimum. A wider dynamic range of 18 dB also does worlds for the delay sound, improving low range response and balancing low and high range for a very balanced tone.
Aside from tone, the AD-9 adds some new features like the switchable Single Head/Dual Head Mode function. In Single Head mode, the AD-9 functions just like a standard analog delay. However, flip the switch, and Dual Head mode emulates the multi-headed operation of Tape Echo sound. New delay effects such as "Ping Pong" and other ambient sounds result from this new switch.
And like all 9-Series Maxon pedals, the AD-9 comes with true bypass switching, a die cast zinc chassis, and either battery or AC/DC power operation.
