Maxon 9-Series OSD-9 Overdrive And Soft Distortion Released
One of Maxon's four new 9-Series pedals, the OSD-9 Overdrive/Soft Distortion, draws heavily on the spirits of its ancestral predecessors. The history behind their soft distortion dates back 30 years to the introduction of the Maxon AD880 Overdrive/Soft Distortion pedal which fast became what Maxon considered to be their "holy grail" of stompbox effects.
If this doesn't register with you, chances are, you weren't playing guitar in Japan at the time. A reissue in the early 1990's garnered little notice worldwide. With the OSD-9, Maxon aims to open the world's eyes about overdrive and soft distortion.
This second resurrection comes with the same original circuit from the original OD880 (including the 741 Op Amp) housed in the 9-Series chassis. New features are also packed into the OSD-9 including true bypass and a charge pump for stable 9V DC operation to ensure consistent tone.
The OSD-9's overdrive is bright and crisp - the perfect compliment for guitars with single coil pickups inside. The post-integration overdrive circuit brings dynamic response to picking techniques as it fine tunes tone according to input level changes. This is the box for anyone looking for distortion that goes down smooth.
