MC2 Audio's E80 And XTA's AudioCore 8.5 To Be Exhibited At PLASA 07
Over the pond in London at PLASA 2007 this September, MC2 Audio will be exhibiting their new E Series power amp, the E80. The E80 packs quite a punch, running 4000 Watts per channel at 4 ohms and 5500 Watts into 2 ohms.
Even at that power, the E80 is only takes up two rack units, utilizing MC2's proprietary, ultra-efficient circuitry. This neutralizes problems with high temperatures that larger power amps may experience.
MC2 Audio merged with XTA in March, and the two will be sharing a booth at the Plaza show. In addition to the E80, XTA will be displaying the latest version of its AudioCore software, which is used for more complex control of multiple inputs and outputs as well as filtering.
With the new Global Ganging feature, users can group EQ's, gains, or delays together so that adjustments over multiple units can be made more efficiently. Other minor features were highlighted on XTA's website:
"A few other minor features have been added, such as the ability to disable real time metering (useful when on a slower connection, or if there are WiFi problems). This is found under File>Options, along with the choice of locking out the System Mute button and changing the PEQ bandwidth units to 'Q', Octaves, or "1/Q".
Fulfilling yet more user tweak requests (!) there is now also a link back to the system monitor on edit screens, in the form of a button that will appear beside OK when a jump has been made from the system monitor window. This allows for quicker swapping between the overall system view and close inspections on individual units' settings."
Ian McCarthy, the group managing director for the two companies had this to say: "The last six months have been incredibly busy and we have made a lot of progress in that time. We are all very much looking forward to the PLASA show as it will give us the first opportunity to update many of our customers personally on developments and future plans."
