McDSP FutzBox Native Is Your June 08 Distortion Plugin Deal Of The Month
Normally only available as part of their Emerald Pack HD bundle, or in the higher priced HD version, Futzbox Native is being made available through only the month of June as a standalone product for only $295. In honor of Flag Day, we assume.
Futzbox is a distortion / noise generator plugin for ProTools HD, LE and M-Powered systems. The ultra-flexible effect has numerous applications, but it's specialty is emulating lo-fi sound sources like telephone receivers, walkie-talkies and other small, crappy speakers (normally you'd have to actually go buy small crappy speakers to achieve this effect).
The lo-fi speaker presets are assembled in what McDSP calls their SIM (Synthetic Impulse Models) Library, but that's only the tip of the Futzbox's noisy iceberg. A veritable bevy of LFOs, EQ filters, noise generators and gating can be combined for nearly limitless variations on distortion. If you can imagine it, the Futzbox can crap it up.
As a Designed for Pro Tools plug in, all the parameters can be MIDI synced and automated, and parameters can be manipulated on the fly for direct creative control in the mixdown stage. It's powerful, nasty, and a lot of fun, and only available for $295 for the month of June. But please, don't futz your flag.
