Mellotron

Fans of tape-based sampling keyboards have Markus Resch of Mellotron Archives to thank for keeping the flame alive, and also well away from the highly flammable playback media on his Mellotron MK VI, which we checked out at NAMM 2010.  

Markus Resch of Mellotron Archives proudly displayed the new Digital Mellotron at Winter NAMM 2010. We check out the prototype and compared with the sounds of an analog Mellotron.  

Nothing beats the sound of a raw tube amp all miked up, but emulated representations can come close nowadays. Mellowmuse tosses its name into the tube modeling hat with Mellowhead, the perfect resting spot for a hat.  

To appease the gods of prog, Markus Resch, High Priest and Keeper of the Sacred Tape Banks, did ritually disembowel a Mellotron. Caught on film by Gearwire's crack videographers. Quite possibly the coolest thing ever....
