Mesa Boogie Fathom: The Bass Amp With A Voice

January 30, 2008
Mesa Boogie Fathom

The Mesa Boogie Winter NAMM 2008 booth was shaking with the new Fathom bass amplifier. It's a warrior of an amp, and Mesa Boogie aimed to create a massive amp with truly exceptional bass tone with this one.

The Fathom has an all-tube preamp offers a ton of tone control that's complemented by the VOICE feature. It has four unique EQ curves to work with for instant access to different tones that cut through your mix differently. The VOICE feature can also be bypassed.

The PULL DEEP feature selects two ranges of fundamental for the BASS control. When pushed in, the tone keeps a tight, percussive bottom that cuts through clearly. It's perfect for tracking. Pulling the knob out shifts the low end, emphasizing the sub-low and extreme-top for sound perfect for the stage.

Five 1/4" function switch jacks remotely trigger the Fathom's finer features such as the VOICE feature and TUNER MUTE. Flip that PULL DEEP knob out, and you're ready to attack the stage.

The Mesa Boogie Fathom is built in the U.S.A. Features include:

  • 600 Watts @ 4 or 2 Ohms (320 @ 8), Direct-Drive™ Power with 8/4 or 2 Ohm Impedance Switch for optimum Power-to-Load Performance / Eight Power MOSFET’s, 1x12AX7

This Amp is Awsome

I just recently bought this amp and am very impressed. I am just a weekend musician and ended up with a rig that is uncomparable to recent amps I have owned. If you are looking for an amp with a good boom for your buck this is the one!!!
