Electro-Harmonix's Mike Matthews On The MicroPOG

August 08, 2007
Mike Matthews on the MicroPOG at Summer NAMM 2007
Mike Matthews from Electro-Harmonix is back with Rob Warmowski, talking about the MicroPOG at Summer NAMM 2007. This unit doesn't have all the original POG features, but what it does have apparently sounds better than the original. And if you ever wanted to hear someone talk about Jack White and Peter Frampton in the same breath, now's your chance. Hear it in the Gearwire video.
More info is at the Electro-Harmonix official site.

Really great sound demo there, Santy. Music gear demos are much more relevant when all we're doing is staring at it thru a glass case.

ROB WARMOWSKI: After the Stereo Memory Man, what would you consider -- What of the new products this show would you want to talk about next?

MIKE MATTHEWS: Well, our POG is very popular. You know, Jack White of the White Stripes and the Raconteurs use it. Peter Frampton swiped his POG because he liked it. He borrowed it and wouldn’t give it back to him. But now we have the MicroPOG, which is in a small die cast chassis, and actually the MicroPOG sounds even better than the POG. It doesn’t have all the features but the basic features it’s tighter and the harmonic structures it’s just really nice.

ROB WARMOWSKI: The MicroPOG, does that run on AC as well as 9 volts?

MIKE MATTHEWS: It does not run on 9 volts. You have to -- It comes with a wall-wart and it needs the power.

ROB WARMOWSKI: I misread that label. I got it. And so this new -- This is -- All of this -- These are new form factors that I’m seeing here. Is this right?

MIKE MATTHEWS: Yeah. Well, we’ve been out with a die cast box now for about a year and a half and, you know, a lot of people love the old Electro-Harmonix sounds but didn’t like our packages, so.

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
