Electro-Harmonix's Mike Matthews On Pedals
ROB WARMOWSKI: What’s up for next year? Tell everybody, including your competitors, what Electro-Harmonix is up to.
MIKE MATTHEWS: This stuff is up for next year. This -- Our Soul Preacher compressor is a GAS.
ROB WARMOWSKI: I see there’s a subtitle here, EH Nano. Is this a completely separate brand or how are you working that?
MIKE MATTHEWS: The real small ones, the guys wanted to call them “Nanos”.
ROB WARMOWSKI: So, but --
MIKE MATTHEWS: The bigger ones are “XOs”. It’s really Electro-Harmonix all the way. We also continue to put other products into these packages. For example, our Octo-Multiplexer which I like, actually if you plug a mic into that, you’re going to sound like Ike Turner. It’s really for guitar. It’s a simple octave -- drops an octave, and then also now the QTron Plus which is a great envelope filter with an effects loop, we now have that in the die-cast box. You want to catch that Q-Tron Plus? And with Q-Tron Plus, you know, traditionally people put things like a distortion unit in the effect loop, but if you plug the Deluxe Memory Man or Polychorus, you can create what you plug into the effects loop. You can create, really invent some new sounds.
ROB WARMOWSKI: I know that just even with a couple of EHX pedals I’ve been able to invent all kinds of new stuff. You’re one of my all-time favorite pedal makers so thanks so much.
MIKE MATTHEWS: Okay. Rock & roll!
ROB WARMOWSKI: Thanks, man. Mike Matthews from Electro-Harmonix, and you got it on Gearwire. Keep it there.
