Milab DC96C: Updated Version Of Classic DC-96 Series Microphone Introduced
Hailing from Sweden, Milab has introduced its new DC96C condenser microphone, an updated version of the classic DC-96 series that sports a large, rectangular-diaphragm and many other features from the company's DC196 mic.
The DC96C has the same capsule and most of its internal components of the DC196, although instead of having a switchable polar pattern, the DC96C has a fixed cardioid polar pattern. This new microphone has a single-layer mesh grid, 12 dB(A) self-noise, a 12 dB attenuation pad, 144 dB maximum sound pressure level, a gold-plated XLR-connector, and a large rectangular condenser capsule.
Why the oblong diaphragm, you ask? Unlike a round diaphragm, this one has two different edge-to-edge dimensions that create two weak resonant frequencies rather than a single noticeable one. Since the mic's rectangular diaphragm has a different polar pattern for each axis, the DC96C is better able to hone in on sound sources, as well as reduce the amount of room sound spilling into the mic.
Ideal for a wide range of applications -- including studio vocals, acoustic guitar and piano, hi-hats and overheads, and guitar amps -- the DC-96 ships with an individual frequency chart, windscreen, and stand adaptor.
Pricing and availability will be announced at a later time. For more details, please visit milabmic.com.
