Back with John La Grou from Millennia Media, we're taking a look at the company's second 500-series module. Although this unit isn't yet shipping (that's three to four months away) the basic design is complete, and Gearwire's Gino Robair was able to sit down with John at the 129th AES show to talk preamp features and format limitations.

As some readers might know, the API 500-series modular format imposes some limitations on equipment designers. Mr. La Grou explains those limitations, and how he got around them, as well as the wealth of features he was able to fit into this compact unit. Most rackmount mic pres don't have half the smart features that the Millennia HV-3 500-series boasts, and here's hoping that price stays the same.
