Moog Music Phatty Tuner: Alternate Scale Editor For Slim Phatty And Little Phatty
At the 2011 Winter NAMM Show, Moog Music introduced Phatty Tuner -- alternate scale editor software (Mac / Win) for the Slim Phatty and Little Phatty. Phatty Tuner is now available as a free download from the company's Web site.
With Phatty Tuner software, you can retune each note of the octave and compose in scales once available only to players of hard-to-find world instruments. According to Moog Music, Indian, Chinese, and Turkish scales are now easily accessible along with Meantone, Pythagorean, Just, and other historic and experimental temperaments.
Now available for the Slim Phatty and coming soon for the Little Phatty with OS v3.0, Phatty Tuner is offered as a free download. Using the software, Slim Phatty users can have fun experimenting with alternate scales and more. Tuning data is editable and is displayed as a ratio, frequency and in cents. Likewise, Scala files can be imported and exported for use with other tuning software. An unlimited number of tunings can be saved on your computer and the synthesizer’s hardware can store up to 32 different tunings, which Moog Music says is enough to take you around the world and back again.
