Moog MF-105M MIDI MuRF 110V: The New Moogerfooger with MIDI Input Is Also One Big Tongue Twister

July 20, 2009
Moog MF-105M MIDI MuRF 110V

Fat, warm, and resonant: three words that inadequately describes Bob Moog's filter design which has made its way from the mammoth modular synthesizers of the late 60s to today's revamped versions of the Minimoog. As a unit of its own, this filter has become an effects pedal in itself called the Moogerfooger. Always in constant evolution, the latest species of the Moogerfooger has mutated into the Moog MF-105M MIDI MuRF 110V to give you versatile and highly controllable sound-shaping options as well as a description that is more than a mouthful that you'd rather call it the MIDI Moogerfooger.

The MF-105M MIDI MuRF 110V combines the MuRF and the Bass MuRF in one rock-solid package. As with all Moogerfoogers, it is a 100% analog effects pedal that possesses those warm and resonant filter bands we've always loved about Moog. Not only do you get both the MuRF and Bass MuRF in one pedal, this new pedal has more controls that ever before. With extensive MIDI implementation, you can create using the MF-105M MIDI MuRF 110V tempo synced filter sequences with MIDI clock sync, change patterns with MIDI program change messages, control front panel knob settings with MIDI CC messages, and play the filters with MIDI Note On commands all in real time. Add to that a full range of control voltage inputs, it will be easy for you to tame this beast of a pedal.

At the heart of the MIDI MuRF lies a bank of eight resonant bandpass filters to fixed frequencies. You can also trigger volume envelopes for these eight bandpass filters using the animation module as well as toggle between two banks of patterns (12 bass patterns and 12 midrange patterns) via the Freq Switch.
