The Mooney Suzuki interview

August 07, 2006
Sammy James and Graham Tyler are half of the "maximalist" group The Mooney Suzuki. This is the band responsible for the "School Of Rock" track in Jack Black's film of the same name, so you know to expect theatricality, falsetto harmonies, and booty-shakin' rock-n-roll. Gearwire got some great studio-geek dirt from James and Tyler, who aren't shy about their feelings on digital recordings, tube amps, and their flirtations with analog-purist fanaticism on the early Mooney Suzuki recordings. And before you ask, this is indeed the same band responsible for that uber-infectious song in the Suzuki car commercial that you can't get out of your head. "Nahh, nah, nah-nah-nah-nah-nah...nahh NAHHHHHH!"
