MXL Microphones Revelation Variable Pattern Tube Microphone Announced
Musikmesse is just around the corner and so are the many new products set to come our way, like the new MXL Microphones Revelation variable pattern tube microphone ($1,495 MSRP).
The Revelation is a studio microphone with a dual gold-sputtered, 6-micron diaphragm; an EF86 pentode tube designed to deliver warm, transparent sound; and a tuned grill cavity that reduces standing waves and harmonic distortion. Any type of polar pattern may be selected via the variable knob located on the Revelation power supply; dial in any pattern, from omnidirectional to cardioid to Figure-8. Other features include a -10 dB pad for high sound pressure level sources and a bass roll-off switch to help reduce proximity effect.
Weighing in at over two pounds, the Revelation mic comes with an aluminum flight case, the Revelation power supply, shockmount, micro-fiber cleaning cloth, a 15-foot XLR Mogami microphone cable, and a 15-foot, 7-pin Mogami cable.
MXL notes that the Revelation is ideal for use as a go-to room mic or for recording vocals, instruments, or percussion. For more details, please visit mxlmics.com.
