Nady RSM-8A Active Ribbon Mic: RSM Ribbon Line Expanded
Nady has announced a new addition to their RSM ribbon microphone series, the RSM-8A. It combines the warmth of classic Nady large ribbon mics with gain knocked up a notch to match conventional studio condensers. Add ultra low-noise FET active circuitry and transformer output, and you've got yourself a living, breathing ribbon microphone.
The RSM-8A is recommended for use in digital recording and live broadcasting as it is intended for recording studio vocals, acoustic instruments, strings, brass, orchestras, choirs and more. Basically, if it makes noise, Nady feels you can record it with the RSM-8A.
With a 50mm long, 2-micron thick aluminum ribbon design, the RSM-8A reproduces audio with extended low and high ends so smooth, you'll think it's a menthol. Its higher gain tops typical ribbon mics by about 40dB and makes it easy to use with preamps or mixers.
Other features include:
- -10dB pad and low cut filter selector switches
- 165 dB SPL capability
- Figure-8 pickup pattern
- Increased off-axis high-frequency response on sides, with decreased treble and lower audio levels above and below on-axis.
- Durable internal shockmount
