Nady SCM 2090 Doubles Down At Summer NAMM
It's good to see how excited Nady is to present their SCM 2090. It's a stereo condenser microphone that makes its bread and butter with its applicative versatility. It stacks two condenser elements in an X-Y pattern to excel in ambient recordings, for example, if your field recorder has an XLR input.
NADY REPRESENTATIVE: Another microphone that we’re real proud to introduce is the stereo condenser mic SCM-2090.
This microphone has two condenser elements that are stacked in a 90-degree XY pattern. It allows you to have really excellent response as far as ambient mic’ing. It’s great for ensembles. It’ll work very well in a choral situation. One of the areas that I think this microphone is also going to shine it’s like the brightest would be in a studio environment where you’re doing mic’ing of two separate cabinets. Say for example, cabinet A you might have a dirty sound with various tone colors coming from it, and then cabinet B with a completely different setup. This microphone would allow you to capture both of those in an ambient recording scenario to isolate from them.
The microphone will terminate to a unique cable that has separate output for channels 1 and 2, making the mic very flexible. I think this microphone is going to be something that’s going to be very useable for people who are carrying palm-sized digital recorders now that are looking to do ambient recording of sources in stereo. This microphone would allow remote placement of the mic sound sourcing and still be able to give you that good condenser sound that you’re looking for and have great response. We’re very happy to bring the 2090 out. This is a brand new microphone that we’re just unveiling here at the Summer NAMM Show.
