Nord Piano Library Features New Acoustic And Electric Piano Sounds
A handful of new acoustic and electric piano sounds have been added to the Nord Piano Library for performance-oriented keyboards, the Nord Stage, the Nord Stage EX, the Nord Electro 3, and the new Nord Piano. The Library now includes the sounds of the Black Upright XLR, the Romantic Upright XLR (shown below), the Queen Upright XLR, the Grand Lady XLR (shown on left), the Bright Tines XL, and the Sparkle Top XL. More additions to the Nord Piano Library will follow later in 2010.
The Black Upright XLR is a Petrof 132 upright, a tall piano typically used for musical schools, in clubs, and in homes. The Petrof actions are quick with good repetition and excellent playability. Its hammers are voiced for a soft tone, and its overall sound is reproduced accurately for the Library.
Next, the oh so Romantic Upright XLR (shown below) is a Schimmel mahogany Fortissimo Chippendale upright manufactured in 1967. According to Nord, this delicate-sounding piano fits into any musical situation, offering perfectly harmonized touch and tone.
The Queen Upright XLR, a Bösendorfer upright piano, features a clear, sustaining sound with a precisely adjusted keyboard and an overall nice sound. It's a queen.
Shown above on the left, the Grand Lady XLR is a 9-foot Steinway Model D with a unique voicing. The Nord Piano version is said to capture the full sound from the tapered, double crowned soundboard, as well as every nuance of the nearly 300 Swedish steel strings.
The Bright Tines XL, an mk I Suitcase, features a special selection of hard hammer tips in certain ranges. This piano has a bell-like, bright and springy sound. Lastly, the Sparkle Top XL electric piano has a raw, bell-like sound similar to that of the Bright Tines.
All pianos in the Nord Piano Library may be downloaded for free from the Nord Web site.

Bright Tines vs. Sparkletop
A few corrections.
The Bright Tines XL, a 1975 mk I Suitcase, features hard hammer tips all over. This piano has a hard, bright and sharp sound. Lastly, the Sparkletop XL has a vintage, raw, low-bell sound very different from that of the Bright Tines.
Libraries will soon be launched
These patches for the Electro and Stage will be released for free download before summer.
