Numark IDJ App Released For IPad: Create Custom Music Mixes, Playlists

November 11, 2010
Numark iDJ app for iPad lets you make synchronized music playlists, custom mixes, and more with BPM technology.

With the Numark iDJ app, now available for iPad, you can make synchronized playlists, custom mixes, and more, quickly and easily. The iDJ app is designed to allow fitness instructors, DJs, music fans, and all other kinds of iPad owners create playlists on their iPad that perfectly match beats from song to song.

As Numark notes, playlists created in standard music libraries simply crossfade from one song to another without concern for the beats in the two tracks; this often leads to poor-sounding transitions, changes in volume levels, or brief silence as the transition happens. In other words, those playlists are not good for dancing. The iDJ app avoids those brief silences and beat irregularities by analyzing the music in one's iTunes music library to ensure that a clear, smooth transition takes place between songs. The resulting synchronized playlists are much like the music mixes that experienced DJs would create, according to the manufacturer.

The iDJ app allows anyone to make instant, continuous mixtapes of their favorite songs, complete with seamless transitions from one song to the next in perfect rhythm. Its intuitive interface make it easy to assemble customized soundtracks for workouts, road trips, dance parties, or any other event.

According to Numark, iDJ's patented BPM (beats per minute) detection technology makes music meld together as one, making it more than just a fast method of building mobile mixtapes. As songs are added, iDJ analyzes their sonic-waveforms, calculates tempos, and then automatically performs optimal transitions throughout the playlist. Using the iPad app, you can beat-match like a pro, and compile multiple songs in succession at the same speed, as if they were one continual song.

At-a-glance features:

  • Create seamless, synchronized playlists of your iTunes music library on iPad
  • Automatically detects songs' tempo and performs crossfades in perfect time
  • Mix up to four songs at once for a completely new playlist experience
  • Playlists can contain an unlimited number of songs
  • Playlists can support audio WAV, MP3, and AAC files
  • Easily manage your iDJ music using iTunes 9.2 (or later) on Mac or PC

In making the iDJ app for iPad, Numark teamed up with the makers of MixMeister, software that helps you make seamless music mixes. Their collaboration allows beginners and professionals alike to work with the iDJ music-mixing application.

Numark's iPad app is now available from the iTunes App Store for $9.99. For more details, visit numark.com.
