Numark IM9: New DJ Mixer With Digital Effects And Dock For IPod Released
At Winter NAMM 2011, Numark announced the availability of the iM9, a professional-grade DJ mixer with integrated effects and a dock for iPod. Packed with effects, this new four-channel mixer allows DJs to record sets to iPod or play directly from an iPod.
Designed for creating vibrant, engaging DJ performances, the four-channel iM9 DJ mixer offers the tools DJs need for mixing vinyl, CDs, an iPod, microphones, or any line-level audio source. Integrated BeatKeeper technology automatically detects a song's BPM, allowing for seamless crossfades from track to track, while Sync Lock ensures that once the beat is locked in between two sources, it is never lost.
According to Numark, the iM9 mixer provides complete control over how the music sounds, no matter the source. With the iM9, DJs can shape the music as needed using dedicated three-band EQ controls for every channel, or they can create remixes and song transitions by engaging the iM9's beat-synced effects. This level of control is complimented by a pro-grade crossfader, knobs, and LEDs.
The mixer's digital effects processing section delivers an easy new way of applying beat synchronized effects. First the BPM is automatically and accurately tracked though the iM9's built in Beatkeeper technology. This constantly updated BPM serves as the basis for 10 time division preset buttons, which allow DJs to change the pulse instant, from quarter note to eighth or sixteenth note, for example, upon which the onboard effects are based. The result is that effects that are always in time with the music. Any of the 10 different digital effects can be manipulated and applied to any channel, including the iPod or the crossfader or main output.
What's more, DJs can incorporate a vocalist or pump-up the audience with the dedicated microphone channel with XLR input, independent gain control, and EQ. A second 1/4-inch mic input is also included. DJs can even record their performances directly to an iPod, thanks to the iM9's iPod dock.
Housed in a sturdy metal enclosure, the iM9 is designed to withstand the most raucous performances and still make the next night's gig, Numark says. The iM9 also features a dedicated booth output and adjustment for previewing, a feature that puts DJs right on the dance floor without physically being there. The iM9 is ideal for use in clubs or by mobile DJs or just about any DJ using turntables, CDs, or MP3s.
The Numark iM9 DJ mixer is available now for $499 (MSRP) or $299.95 (estimated Street). Learn more at numark.com.
