Numark NS7: A Quick Glimpse Of The All-In-One Controller-Interface

January 20, 2009
Numark NS7 Winter NAMM 2009

The idea behind transition to laptop DJ from the traditional Vinyl DJ was to carry arround less stuff. The Numark NS7 continues this mission by combining your DJ control surface and audio interface in one leek unit. All you'll need is a USB cable and a connection to the club's sound system and you're readdy to spin.

The NS7 features two motorized platters for cueing and scratching, two channels with three band EQ and gain for each, and a cool little ribbon controller for "needle drop" effects that Numark is calling the "Strip Search." All controls for library browsing and effects-triggering in Numark Itch are easily accessible on the NS7, meaning no more looking like a laptop DJ with a mouse and keyboard.

The MSRP on the NS7 is about $600.

KEITH: [SOUNDS LIKE] Keith back with you, product specialist for Numark. We're here with DJ [SOUNDS LIKE] Haas who is demoing the Numark NS7.

What is the NS7? The NS7 is your audio and new controller that comes packaged with Serato Itch. What you're seeing in here right now is that he's got two motorized 7" platters. All of his audio faders are controlling the audio faders in Serato. You got balanced outputs. You need an NS7 to your laptop then you plug it right into powered speakers and you're ready to go. Check them out.
