I'll be honest. When I saw the clip in our Winter NAMM '08 outtake footage with Orange Amps where the rep talks about swapping Lucy and Sally and beard stroking sessions, I had no idea what he was talking about. I thought he was just drunk. However, he was talking about the female names (given instead of serial numbers) of the 40 40th Anniversary Custom Shop Limited edition amps.

Recently, Orange provided an update on these amps, which have almost all been reserved. Orange released the names of some of the Custom Shop amps that are already being sent out:

“We have Sally and Edith that both went to Germany. Michelle went to Canada. Christina went to Spain. Judy is going to Holland. Lina and Mia are on their way to France. Betty is ready to go to Norway. Right now we are working on Roberta which will be going to Italy once it’s completed. Our Italian distributor requested that name, but many of the amps do not get named until we have played them and checked out their tonal character, playability and response!"

The 40th Anniversary Limited Edition amps share the same controls with no master volume. They're 50 watt amps with built in 30 watt Class A switches built in. All of them feature two 12AX7 / ECC83 and two EL34 tubes.

That's all they share. Each amp has a different design and voicing, and to prove it, Orange has taken a photograph of the inside of each amp.
