Orange Amps Terror Bass: Hybrid Bass Head Makes US "No-Fly" List
Remember when "terror" was all hockey-masks, popcorn and awkward teenage PDA? Now it's all hijacking, militant nationalism and I.E.D.s, and no one's able to go out and have themselves a "good scare" anymore. "Bollocks to that," says Orange Amps, UK. They've gone ahead and expanded their "terror" line with the new Orange Terror Bass, the first bass head in the range.
The Orange Terror Bass applies the Terror line's themes of portability and power in a an affordable package and apply them to bass guitar amplification. By employing a Class-D solid state power amp, the Terror Bass can pump out an impressive 500 watts, yet weighs only five kilograms (or 11.0231131 pounds, or mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and $250,000 fine) -- it's lightweight and compact enough to qualify as a carry on!
For tone, the Terror Bass relies on two 12AX7 "valves" in the preamp gain stage. The rugged, folded steel chassis, rubberized feet and top handle make for anxiety-free transport, and the side-mounted balanced XLR direct out and effects loop make for easy setup.
The Orange Amps Terror Bass does not yet have an announced price or availability, but we'll let you know as soon as we get a VHS communiqué from the leader of Orange.
