iZotope Ozone 3: Mastering Plugins, I'm Pulling Your Strings!

iZotope Ozone 3

The mastering process usually recommends that a fresh set of ears be brought on for the job, but the going rate on ears these days is through the roof and not everything you record is for professional release purposes anyway. That's where iZotope's Ozone 3 comes in.

Bill Holland takes you on an introductory tour of this mastering plugin. It's harmonically exciting!

Why would you choose a mix with little to no headroom to demonstrate a mastering plug-in? It's generally a good idea to leave at least 3db of headroom when your printing your final mix and I'd highly recommend leaving 6db of headroom if possible. It's counterproductive to use a mix that little headroom to demonstrate what a mastering plug can do.

I agree

We needed an unmastered live recording, and this is what we found that someone could part with in the studio. I personally was not about to throw up any recent unreleased recordings of my own that aren't under copyright yet.

It's funny, because I actually made that same comment when I looked at the waveform. Perhaps in the future, we'll have something with a little more headroom. When you're producing video reviews this fast, you're often hard pressed to find all of the materials you need. Thanks for noticing, though.

This is more or less an overview of the NFR that Izotope sent us. I love the plugin though.

What software are you using

By: Anonymous Coward

What software are you using for the video capture on this? I'd actually love to see some videos on the screen video capturing choices out there for both Mac and PC (actually, I only care about the Mac side of things, but I'll be nice - hahaha) and the process of capturing the video and audio, etc.

software

I'm actually using Logic 8, which I highly recommend. I was a PC Sonar user until I got my hands on this. I used to hate Logic, but now I Love it. I might be doing more PC stuff in the near future, however.

Dude - re-read the question

Dude - re-read the question - WHAT ARE YOU USING TO CAPTURE THE VIDEO? I can see you're using Logic 8, I'm well familiar with it. I am asking what software you are using to capture the video if I didn't make that clear enough.

Snapz pro. It works really well with macs. For PC I recommend camtasia.
