Parker Adrian Belew Signature Fly Guitar: Guitar Luddities, This Is Not Your Axe
There sure is a lot of technical splendiferocity on board the new Parker Adiran Belew Signature Fly guitar, but would you expect anything less from a guitar designed by the man know for making his instrument sound like any number of animals, and who once released an album called The Guitar as Orchestra: Experimental Guitar Series, Vol. 1?
The Parker Fly by itself is already a technical marvel without the added signature doo-dads, just as Belew himself is quite the competent guitarist even aside from his special effects techniques. There's the highly sculpted body, the carbon-epoxy-encased neck, the top-notch hardware. . . add to this a specially-designed DiMarzio bridge humbucker and an amazing Sustainiac Stealth PRO neck pickup (which produces intense, predictable and infinite feedback sustain) and you've already got one lively instrument.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Never one to shy away from digital audio technology, Mr. Belew's signature Fly houses an on-board Line 6 Variax Modeling system, allowing guitarists to select from 25 preset sounds including classic acoustic and electric tones. Computer connectivity enables further tweaking of the presets.
The guitar is also MIDI-capable, with an integrated 13-pin output. Of course, there's also the piezo bridge, an RMC Pow'r Bridge in this case, with individually-adjustable saddles for perfect output balance.
The Parker Adrian Belew Signature Fly is available now, but you'll have to contact individual retailers for a street price (expect to throw down about ten Gs. . . Salad Days, indeed).
