A Guitar Fit For A (Crimson) King: The Adrian Belew Signature Parker Fly

May 22, 2006
Parker Guitars
Parker gives Gearwire viewers a peek at some of its latest models, including the company's first-ever signature guitar, the Adrian Belew Signature Parker Fly. The Belew model features a Sustainiac sustainer up near the neck, an RMC Piezo system, a 13-pin MIDI output that can connect with any MIDI device, and the electronics from the Line 6 Variax guitar line. That's a lot of features for one guitar -- a point driven home by this thing's suggested retail price of $10,000.

Parker also showes off some other interesting new models, including the PM20, the PM20 Pro and the P30.
Check out the Adrian Belew Signature Parker Fly, the PM20, the PM20 Pro, and the P30 pages.

PARKER REPRESENTATIVE: So, we’re introducing at the show the brand new signature model. It’s Parker’s first signature guitar. It’s called the Adrian Belew Signature Parker Fly. The guitar is available in three colors: Lime Gold which is shown here, Tangerine Orange, and an Arctic Silver.

The guitar features the Sustaniac sustainer here in the neck position. It also has RMC piezo system for acoustic tones. That system can also drive MIDI, so it has a 13-pin out. It can drive any MIDI controller. It also has a 1/4” out. The guitar also features the Line 6 Variax system built right into the guitar so you also have guitar modeling. It has a list price of $10,000 and it will be shipping in 10 months.

To go along with the Adrian model, we have this, the PM-20 in Tangerine Orange. This is a mahogany body, mahogany neck. It has dual humbuckers with dual coil tapping, string through design. It has an ebony fingerboard with Grover 18:1 tuners.

Also new at the show is a brand-new, American-made NiteFly Guitar. This is called the NiteFly Alder. It has an Alder body with a maple neck. The maple neck is reinforced with a carbon-glass composite material which makes the neck less susceptible to temperature and humidity changes so that truss rod adjustments are virtually unheard of. It has a carbon-glass fingerboard with stainless steel frets. It has a humbucker here in the bridge position that can be coil-tapped as well as two single-coil pickups. These are DiMarzio custom-wound pickups, and it also features the Parker patented tremolo system as well as Sperzel locking tuners.

Also new at the show is a guitar called the PM-20 Pro. This is a new take off of our best-selling PM-20 guitar. It has a mahogany body with a mahogany neck. It features Sperzel locking tuners. It has a Seymour Duncan JB here in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. It has the patented TonePros bridge system as well as an ebony fingerboard. It also has dual coil tapping so you get eight different tones out of the pickups. It’s available with a flame maple top, honeyburst, and it’s also available in a pearl white which is shown here.

The other new guitar that we have here at the show is called the P-30. The P-30 features a fulcrum-style tremolo with three single-coil pickups. It’s got a traditional control layout with a five-way selector switch. It has a maple neck, maple bolt-on neck featuring our patented neck joint here. It has Grover 18:1 tuners on it. It’s a poplar body with a maple neck and maple fingerboard.
