Paul Reed Smith Mira Unveiled At Experience PRS
Paul Reed Smith introduced their Mira electric guitar at PRS' first ever "Experience PRS" open house event. The Mira gets its name from both the Latin word for "wonderful" and an unusually fast moving star approximately 350 years away from us that eventually may bring fiery death to us all unless Bruce Willis, backed by an Aerosmith ballad, does something about it.
The Mira boasts some features that are either new or very rare to PRS. The Mira has 24 frets, giving each string a full two octave range. In addition, the Mira has its own unique Mira treble and bass pickups that are three way switchable with a mini toggle coil tap. Here's a skinny on some more stats.
- 25" Scale Length
- 10" Fretboad Radius
- Available in Regular or Wide-Thin Neck Shape
- Locking Tuning Pegs
- PRS Non-Adjustable Stoptail
- Abalone Moon Inlays Or Optional Bird Inlays
- East Indian Rosewood Fingerboard
- Solid Mahogany Body and Neck
The PRS team has a younger audience in mind for the Mira guitar. They're aiming it at a younger, Indie audience with the new features and the new look, but rest assured, it'll still be a PRS. Ask Paul himself, and he'll tell you:
"The Mira is a new direction for PRS – flat body, pick guard, new pickups, 24 fret, retro looking vintage style guitar, but first and foremost, it is a wonderful sounding Maryland-built instrument.”
