Two new apps by Peavey Electronics and Agile Partners are now available in the Apple iTunes App Store: AmpKit and AmpKit+.

When used together with the compact AmpKit Link electric guitar interface for iPad, iPhone, and IPod Touch, the AmpKit and AmpKit+ apps provide guitar and bass players with a way to jam and record with Peavey quality tones just about anywhere.

AmpKit is a free app that includes the Peavey ValveKing amp with clean and high gain lead channels, two ValveKing cabinets (4 x 12 and 1 x 12), two pedals (Noise Gate and Elevenizer), two microphones (Workhorse 57 dynamic mic and Germann 87 condenser mic), and a built-in Noise and Feedback Filter.

As a paid app ($19.99), AmpKit+ is a step up from AmpKit that includes three additional amps, four more cabinets, and eight additional pedals. The additional amps include the Peavey 3120 amp with clean, rhythm, and ultra-high-gain lead channels, plus a matching 4 x 12 cabinet, the Colonel Vintage amp paired with matching 4 x 10 and 1 x 12 cabinets, and the Vintage Brit amp with matching 2 x 12 cabinet. The additional pedals include 10-band EQ, distortion, fuzz, compressor, chorus, phaser, flanger, and reverb effects.

AmpKit's main features:

• Over 60 pre-defined amp and pedal setups
• Create and save an unlimited number of custom setups, with a dozen or more active pedals in each setup
• Record as you play: AmpKit creates both "dry" (guitar signal before effects are applied) and "wet" (guitar signal with effects applied) recordings

AmpKit Link is available separately for $39.99. This interface allows you to plug in an electric guitar, bass, or other instrument via 1/8-inch cable directly into the headphone jack of an iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. It has a 1/4-inch mono input jack for electric guitar, bass, and line level signal sources; and an 1/8-inch stereo output jack for connecting headphones, powered speakers, or a PA system. Once plugged in, instruments are automatically detected by iPhone OS, and what's more, the AmpKit Link works with most recording, processing, and tuning apps, including GuitarToolkit. It is compatible with all iPhone models, both second- and third-generation iPod touch devices, and iPad.
