Peavey PXD Vicious Devin Townsend Signature Model: Seven-String Baritone Metal Guitar
In the music industry where "wicked" and "killer" are generally descriptions of good things, we can only expect the same to go for "vicious." The new Peavey PXD Vicious Devin Townsend Signature Model should live up to its name; this seven-string baritone metal guitar, made by Peavey with the help of Devin Townsend (The Devin Townsend Project, Strapping Young Lad) was designed to "crush everything while maintaining a high level of quality and elegance," as Townsend puts it.
The PXD Vicious Devin Townsend Signature Model has a 28-inch baritone scale, seven strings, and a maple neck-through-body design that is supposed to give the instrument incredible sustain. A custom EMG 81 seven-string humbucker in the bridge position and an EMG seven-string single coil at the neck provide the guitar's "menacing rhythm" and lead tones, as well as striking clean tones in the neck position. Available in gun-metal gray, this guitar is also adorned with locking Sperzel tuners and an ebony fretboard with jumbo frets.
Furthermore, this crushing instrument is available in two additional models with a range of feature options, including an adjustable bridge with a string-through design and Coffin Case hard cases or gig bags. PXD guitars have high-output Peavey VFL active pickups or EMG 60 and 81 pickups with the EMG Afterburner tone circuit, which boosts input gain up to 20 dB for high levels of saturation.
The Peavey PXD Vicious Devin Townsend Signature Model will be available this quarter for $1,199.99.
