Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3: Vinyl Mode Begs For Your Hands-On Enjoyment
"CDJ" mode was just a warm-up. DJ Puzzle Jason Donnelly shows GW where the real action is on the Pioneer CDJ1000 and switches the deck over to "Vinyl" mode, and things get exciting. Spinning one of his original tracks, Puzzle demonstrates why the ease of use and realism of the vinyl simulation have the CDJ1000 so popular with professional DJ's.
We all know by now that the CDJ1000 turns DJ Puzzle on. In this video, witness Puzzle returning the favor. Desire is a two-way street, friends.
JASON DONNELLY: Jason Donnelly here with Gearwire.Com and once again the Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3. This is actually probably a favorite and the most used CD decks by DJs all over the world, and it’s apparent why this is just a very intuitive and well made piece of gear. In this section, I’d like to show you vinyl mode.
Vinyl mode will allow us to cue the CD in similar ways that a turntable would be used. Here you have your jog mode selector. There is vinyl. You can see the vinyl mode, CDJ mode. You also have vinyl speed adjustment curves that you can set on this piece. Touch break, a really angled slope or a quick cutoff, same thing on the release and start if you want to sort of slowly come in or if you do want to quickly come in.
So, I load the CD in.

One of the great things here is that I am playing the same CD that I played in a previous segment, and my cue point, even after ejecting that CD, is still in the memory of this deck. So, what I might do is turn it off just to see if that resets it. So, in vinyl mode we can cue the CD/song in a similar fashion as a turntable for the record. So, we’re now in vinyl mode. See if we can hear the difference here. It also allows us to scratch the CD as well.

So, I can backspin the record, forward spin. I can slow it down.

Speed it up.

That’s done by grabbing the edge of the platter. The top of the platter allows us to stop the record, rewind it, fast forward it, scratch it, and then play. So, that is pretty much in a nutshell vinyl mode in the CDJ1000 MK3.
