Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3: Oh No! The Cops Are Here!
We already know that DJ Puzzle Jason Donnelly gives his thumbs up to the Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3, and in previous videos, he has shown off some of the features. The Puzz has one more tasty morsel of functionality to share with you -- the ability to change break and start speeds.
Watch as the police keep interrupting DJ Puzzle's imaginary house party or just check your TV guide for reruns of Cops.
JASON DONNELLY: Jason Donnelly here with Gearwire.Com and once again the Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3, probably my favorite CD deck for DJing. What a killer piece. We talked about a lot in previous segments. I did mention vinyl mode versus CDJ mode but I didn’t show you the way that the slopes here affect your touch and break and release and start. So, I’m going to run you through that real quick just to give you an idea of as to how that works and what it sounds like.

So, as you can see we are in vinyl mode. When I hit pause, you can hear it breaking. You can adjust how fast or slow you want that break, so here’s a really slow break and a release.

A really slow stutter but even slower break. Watch this. I turn the adjustment knob all the way to the right and see what curve it will be, slanted slope versus a very sharp cutoff...

...much like a turntable. A lot of newer turntables also have this adjustment. Some of the older ones you can actually have them modified and you can have a knob placed on there too.

You can change the break speed but they come stock on a Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3. Here it is real quick, real quick.

As you can hear when it starts, just like a turntable. Let’s get it even slower starting.

So, that’s our start and release. Real quick.

Let’s go with the real slow break. We’re almost all the way up on the adjustment dial and a slightly adjusted start so it will sound a little more like a standard turntable.

Getting closer I would say right about here.

So, if you want to end the night or if the cops show up at a venue and it’s an illegal venue and they tell you to turn the music off and you want to create that really dramatic, “Oh no. It’s the end of the night. Somebody told me to stop playing. What a drag. There’s no more dance music. We can’t dance anymore,” you’ll probably turn this all the way up, and that’s your break and say, “Oh no. The cops are here. Turn the music off. Oh, [EXPLETIVE] the party’s over. The party’s over. Everyone go home.”
Another cool thing you can do is basically set the touch to the same setting.

“What? What? The cops are here? Oh no!” “The party’s over. Everyone go home.”

We can speed that up a little.

[INDISCERNIBLE]

So, there you have it. That’s what it sounds like to adjust the vinyl speed on your touch, break, and your release start in vinyl mode on the CDJ -- CDJ1000 MK3. This is Jason Donnelly with Gearwire.Com. Thanks for watching.
