Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3

The Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK3 is an amzing cd player. Filled with features and a very good quality digital vinyl scratching effect. If you arent a complete vinyl addict, then this is the product for you. It is hard to switch from vinyl to cds but once the MK3 came out, I had to. The removable sd card is great and you can always get more memory but i suggest that you purchase Final Scratch or Serato Scracth Live. The MK3 is an amazing machine with a beautiful design, one of the best looking CD Players on the market in my opinion. It is great for battle djs and even good for mobile djs if they want to add a little scratching to their performance. Overall, I would say the Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK3 is an amazing product. I purchased from www.musicthingz.co.nz since it's the only decent New Zealand music store around.

musicthingz will sell you something parallel imported and will remove the serial number off it so you can’t get a proper warranty repair done on it. I found I had paid more than retail price when I bought from them and the item had been opened and tampered with cos they change the power supply to work in NZ. Buyer beware!

Yeah we've found Musicthingz to be less than an honest crowd to deal with. We thought people might want to hear a true customer story to put them in the picture.....

A TASCAM interface was recently bought from Musicthingz (who incedentally claim to offer the best prices on the net) but the customer actually paid $30 more than the NZ retail price for it which doesn't sound like a good deal to me!
When it arrived several weeks later the box had been mutilated to remove the serial number and the serial number had also been removed from the back of the unit. As the customer was concerned about this (and the fact that Musicthingz were offering a genuine manufacturers warranty) contact was made with TASCAM direct who looked into the matter and have now stated that "they do not repair or cover the warranties of any Tascam products sold by Musicthingz" .

It turns out the majority of the products Musicthingz sell are simply parallel imported to order from web stores in the US hence why delivery took so long.
I'm sure most of the manufacturers will take the same stance as TASCAM when it comes to warranty, especially if the serial number has been removed as they have no way of telling if it is a stolen item or not. All the NZ agents of the major brands have stated they will not cover warranty on items bought from Musicthingz with serial numbers removed so the claim of Musicthingz to offer a manufacturers warranty must be called into question. If you combine that with the fact that a lot of their prices seem to be more than retail price it seems this website isn't quite the amazing place to shop that it portrays itself as......

...buyer beware! Buy only genuine NZ goods from webstores that clearly state they provide NZ new goods with a genuine NZ Manufacturers warranty.
Here is a list of a few such genuine sites

That's interesting. I've read elsewhere about the serials being removed. That is illegal practice and also against the Fair Trading Act. Have you thought of pursuing legal action or approaching Fair Go?

I am currently waiting for an item from MusicThingz, having not researched his reputation beforehand (or I would not have bought).

Andrew is no longer responding to emails and should he attempt to screw me over, I am already accumulating information to form a complaint against him. He ought to know better than to mess with musicians. We have high moral values, we have contacts EVERYWHERE, and we don't sit back and take punches from assholes.

SO who has some info theyde like to share with me on this Andrew from musicthingz.co.nz, cause it would appear I have been 'had' as well, having not researched them prior to buying - I find myself with no communications from them, no product in hand.. and growing very angry very rapidly!

JASON DONNELLY: Welcome back to Gearwire.Com. This is Jason Donnelly, and before us we have the Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3 on the right and the Korg KAOSS Pad KP3 on the left. In this segment, I’m going to show you how to create a hip hop beat using the sampling features of the Korg KAOSS Pad and using the Pioneer DJ deck as a song source.

And what I have done is I have a preloaded CD with some of my own original loops that I have created. I actually saved it down in data format as MP3s to even push the envelope a little further to show you exactly how awesome the CDJ1000 is. So, what we’re going to is we’re going to play those loops, sample them into the KP3 and then play them back and use some effects and totally wow the crowd with something totally fresh and new.

So, the first thing I want to do is show you the Korg KAOSS Pad and on these four pads, we will be sampling beats, scratching, drums and some keys. I got a little Rhodes keyboard going, so basically what I did is I loaded up a CD with some of my own loops. Here we have a beat loop, and you can see it listing up here, the title of the file...,

[JASON DONNELLY PLAYING A BEAT LOOP USING THE PIONEER CDJ1000 MK3]

...which is one of the reasons why I basically just burned the MP3 straight to a disc.

[JASON DONNELLY PLAYING A BEAT LOOP USING THE PIONEER CDJ1000 MK3]

This is our beat loop. Let’s skip to the next sample.

[JASON DONNELLY PLAYING THE “OLD SKOOL ONE SHOT” LOOP USING THE PIONEER CDJ1000 MK3]

Old Skool One Shot.

[JASON DONNELLY PLAYING THE “OLD SKOOL ONE SHOT” LOOP USING THE PIONEER CDJ1000 MK3]

And our Rhodes keyboard riff.

[JASON DONNELLY PLAYING AND SCRATCHING A RHODES KEYBOARD RIFF LOOP USING THE PIONEER CDJ1000 MK3]

So there you have it. Those were the three samples, and I’m going to show you how we’re going to put that back together and how we can add a little creativity to it to and change it up a bit. So, stay tuned.
