Precisionsound Retro Gadgets Vol. 4: Next Time, Retro Gadgets, Next Time
Ever wonder where they those wonderful toys for the Precisionsound Retro Gadgets collections (now on Vol. 4)? My guess is: MY CHILDHOOD. Seriously, these sample collections are like feverish flashes from my preschool days, where I'd go over to my friends house where his older sister watched us until my parents got home from work. He had the sickest collection of weird noisemakers and educational electronics, and had I known then what I know now about retro-chic and circuit-bending, I would have robbed that kid blind. Instead of setting his lawn on fire, I mean (JK, Evan, that wasn't me).
Even had at least one of each of the following toy-synths, each one a part of the new Retro Gadgets Vol. 4:
- Polivox Faemi Mini - Russian made; how did he have this?

- Concept 2000 - a morse-code generator for kids, cause hey, you never know where your kid knowing morse code will come in handy

- Mix Me DJ - a conglomeration of sound modules, including MPC-style trigger pads, a "scartch" effect jog wheel and even a keyboard; looked like an early version of Reggie "Futureman" Wooten's drumitar

- Yamaha PS1 - came in a little suitcase; adorable!

- Stylophone Woodstyle - according to Precisionsound, "The square version of the cult keyboard from UK with a more snappy sound that (sic.) the black and white versions."

The Retro Gadgets Vol. 4 collection is tailored for HALion (38 programs) and NI Kontakt (42 programs), and via those sampler's engines can be manipulated into pad, lead and bass sounds, or whatever else you can think of. You get 453 24bit mono WAV files and 4 Rx2 files for $25 US.
