PreSonus MegaStudio Is Quite The Powerful Bundle

October 16, 2007
PreSonus Megastudio at AES 2007

If you've ever watched Power Rangers, it was inevitable that to be successful, the Power Rangers had to combine to become "Megazord," and PreSonus puts the "mega" prefix to work with Megastudio - a combination of everything you'll need to record, mix, and even make a music video. MegaStudio doubles the amount of simultaneous inputs afforded by Cubase LE, allowing it up to eight at a time so no software upgrades are necessary with an eight input interface like the FP10.

Check out the video to find out what else combines to make MegaStudio more than worthy of its prefix.

BILL HOLLAND: Welcome back to Gearwire.Com. I’m Bill Holland and we are live in New York at Fall AES 2007. And I’m here with Gene Williams from PreSonus. Thanks for joining me Gene.

GENE WILLIAMS: Oh, thank you, Bill. Thanks for having me.

BILL HOLLAND: And okay, so we all remember the FP10 but now you’ve incorporated it into what’s called MegaStudio Producer. And this is really cool. It’s like you have Cubase LE4 comes with it, Sony Vegas. But now you can actually take eight inputs using your FireWire recording interface into Cubase. This is really awesome. Talk a little but about like what this whole thing does and why someone would want to buy this. It’s pretty cool, though.

GENE WILLIAMS: No, absolutely. What you have the original version of Cubase LE would only allow you to bring 4 channels of audio in at a time. So you’re forced to upgrade your software right away. Now with the MegaStudio Producer what we have is Cubase 4 LE lets you record eight tracks at a time, play back 48 tracks altogether. So it’s plenty of space to get your band recorded, do your mix. Comes up with a lot of dynamics control, EQ, compressors, all that type of thing. And then if that weren’t enough, inside the MegaStudio Producer Bundle, you get your BFD Lite. You’re getting Cycling ‘74, Lounge Lizard, Reason Adapted. All of the other programs needed to create your music altogether as well as record all your music. Then once you have your music done, we allow you to shoot your video. So, have your camcorder, plug it into your computer, we’ll give you say a Sony Vegas movie studio platform 8.0 which will allow you to record, excuse me, mix all your video and audio together. You can name it. You can do graphics. You can do voice-overs. I mean, it’s a very pro application.

BILL HOLLAND: Awesome. Well, thank you so much for showing it to me. We’re going to move on and see what has happened to the descendant of the FP10, I guess.

GENE WILLIAMS: Yeah, the updated version of our FirePod and FP10. Going over here, we have the FireStudio Projects.

BILL HOLLAND: All right. We’re going to take a look at that in a second from Fall AES 2007 in New York.
