PreSonus Studio One 1.0.2, Capture 1.1, And Windows 7 Compatibility Announced
This week, Baton-Rouge-based PreSonus has announced Windows 7 compatibility for certain products, as well as updated versions of Capture and Studio One.
The 1.0.2 maintenance update for Studio One Pro and Studio One Artist addresses over a dozen issues and adds a handful of new features. Registered users can update their copies using the link in Studio One’s Start Page. With version 1.0.2, you can select a track after you choose Edit Automation, and then drag a parameter to that track and disable the click sound on outputs used by the Pipeline hardware-insert plugin. Studio One now integrates with the Korg NanoKontrol, while Studio One Artist now comes bundled with PreSonus Gate, Expander, and Analog Delay Native Effects plugins, which previously were only available with Studio One Pro.
Among the many bug fixes provided by this update, which you can view in full at the company site, are three notable fixes that apply specifically to Mac OS X. Studio One no longer crashes when you quit the program in OS X 10.4 (Tiger), nor does it crash when you resize VST plugins or switch applications while you have an open plugin window for a Waves version 7 VST 3 plugin. Windows-specific changes include fixed MIDI timing problems that occurred with certain PC motherboards, fixed time-counter flicker, and improved Browser update speed when you have empty CD / DVD drives.
The PreSonus Capture digital audio multitracking application has been upgraded to version 1.1, providing even more integrated features for the StudioLive 16.4.2 digital mixer. According to the manufacturer, one of the benefits of the StudioLive 16.4.2 mixer is the ability to daisy-chain two mixers and record their channel outputs via FireWire. Capture 1.1 supports this feature by automatically detecting the number of available inputs, so that when two StudioLive 16.4.2 mixers are daisy-chained, you can record all 32 input channels plus two assignable channels, such as subgroups or the main L/R outputs.
In addition, Capture 1.1 allows you to stereo link channels so you can record interleaved stereo files from linked channels on the StudioLive mixer. It also provides vertical scrolling and the capability to resize tracks. The 1.1 upgrade is available for free for all registered StudioLive 16.4.2 owners.
In keeping with the release of Windows 7, PreSonus has made a number of items compatible with the new OS, including the latest version of Universal Control for all FireStudio series interfaces and for the StudioLive 16.4.2, Capture 1.1 and later, Studio One Pro 1.0.2 and later, and Studio One Artist 1.0.2 and later. Download the updates at the Technical Support/Downloads section of the PreSonus Web site.
