Continue reading if you have a PreSonus FaderPort, you have a Mac, and your Mac runs Snow Leopard OS. If you have fewer than three of those things, you can probably skip this important announcement and move on to the next.  

We are back with another day in the life of one Diego Stocco, the California sound designer and experimental musician with a resume that can kick your resume's a**. Today, he tells us how he recorded the tones of his newest experiment, aptly named the Experibass, with the help of the PreSonus DigiMax D8 and Apogee Rosetta 800.  

If you're hesitant to upgrade to Snow Leopard after the hairy upgrade that was OSX 10.5.2, we feel your pain. So does PreSonus, who want to asuage your fears by letting you know that the PreSonus Universal Control Driver is completely Snow Leopard-compatible.  

Having already established a commanding presence in the home and project studio market with their more than respectable USB and firewire interfaces, PreSonus is moving on to phase two pf their plan for world domination. The new PreSonus Studio One is their very own DAW, to be packaged with every interface they ship. Hey, it worked for the Greeks. . .  

The everything-box known as the PreSonus StudioLive 16.3.2 was on full display at Winter NAMM 2009, and Gearwire was lucky enough to get a very knowledgeable product rep to give us a listen to the versatile board in action. Except, that's not a PreSonus rep at all; that's Martin Atkins from Pigface, Public Image LTD and Killing Joke. SECURITY!!!

The newest PreSonus Firewire driver update may have only warranted a third-order revision number -- 3.3.1 -- but it includes a first-rate feature: the ability to daisy-chain Firewire units for infinite input expandability. Only your computer's processing power, your available rack space, or your budget can limit the number of inputs you can add.

As lead singer NOX confides, Lust Murder Box uses a lot of MIDI in their songs, from first germination to final product, so it makes sense that they favor Logic Pro 7 as their DAW-of-choice in their band's studio.  

Anyone who has ever been to a Monster Truck Rally can't deny that watching trucks crush things under-tire is one of the subtle joys that makes life swell. Unfortunately, the durable PreSonus AudioBox USB cares not for subtle joys.  

While we didn't have any problems using the PreSonus FaderPort with Logic 8 for our demo video a while back, PreSonus has only just announced that their full native Logic driver is available. I guess Bill's just that good.  

We're back behind the desk with Matt Mercado at Sonic Palace. Matt shares some of his snare drum recording knowhow with the camera as the beat goes on.  

Matt Mercado knows what it does when it comes to recording drums, so we joined him at Sonic Palace to see his kick drum recording technique, step by step. It involves some EQ, some compression and patience for monotonous kick drum.

Ask Angus Young -- all you need to know to write a song on guitar is three chords. In this video, Bill Holland tops that with a fourth chord, throws in some plug-in effects and demonstrates how to spice up simple strumming.  

Admittedly, Bill Holland is not a guitarist, but that doesn't stop him from using guitar to create tones in Ableton Live with plug-ins from the PreSonus FireStudio Project. Here, Bill displays how to set up your ax to record some tracks.  

Reverb is a naturally occurring event, and without it, where would we be? All of our mixes would sound really dry, and we wouldn't know what God sounded like back in the day when he would regularly yell at people. Bill Holland checks out the Wave Arts MasterVerb LE, included with the PreSonus FireStudio Project.  

The PreSonus FireStudio Project wouldn't be much of a studio if it was only an interface -- it'd be more like a FireInterface Project, but that sounds pretty stupid, so PreSonus includes some plug-ins and software to give the user more than just an excellent interface.  

In the last video on the PreSonus FireStudio Project, Bill Holland opened the box and set the interface up. Now he's ready to take the FireStudio Project into Ableton Live and show us the software side of setting up an interface.
