Propellerhead Reason 4 is shipping out today in anticipation of its release in a week on September 26th. The highly awaited new version of Propellerhead's ultra popular software sequencer is completely reconstructed from the ground up.

Thor Polysonic Synthesizer

The Thor Polysonic Synthesizer is so completely awesome that it was probably endorsed by the Norse god himself. The polysonic synth uses six different oscillator types and four unique filters to generate a wide range of synth sounds. Three of each can be used simultaneously for permutable, combinable sonic options. A modulation matrix lets you modulate anything from Thor with anything else from Thor, and an analog style step sequencer does just about everything, going from beyond playing melodies to triggering, creating arpeggios, generating percussion lines, and more.

RPG-8: Creative Arpeggiation

Reason 4 comes with RPG-8, an arpeggiator that gives you power to control your arpeggios with mode selectors, pattern selectors, and a large display of values and positions. The RPG-8 is loaded with new, advanced features like "Single Note Repeat" which engages the arpeggiator when two or more simultaneous notes are held down, injecting a flash of arpeggio to your melody line. "Manual" mode gives you realtime arpeggio control. Your arpeggios will never get out of hand in Reason 4.

ReGroove Mixer

The ReGroove Mixer makes your tracks flow as if you're using actual musicians. Its timing magic is applied non-destructively and realtime so that you can make adjustments as the music plays. Tracks can be locked together in unison or separated for individually applied settings. And groove amount, slide, and shuffle parameters all can be tweaked so you never have too much or too little groove.

Reason Sequencer

The Reason Sequencer has matured with a new look, some new tricks, and a new way of handling data. Sequencer devices now get their own dedicated track with enough lanes to make a bowling alley jealous. In short, everything is less cluttered, boosting efficiency and making sequencing a speedy process given the editing functions you control.
