For Reason users whose tracks and projects are too clean to retain any soul, Propellerhead Software is offering the Reason Soul School ReFill sample library as an easy way to put the soul back in.  

Bad news, everyone: the public beta testing for Propellerhead Record is over. But wait, that means that Record is now officially available for purchase worldwide! Good news, everyone!  

The Rumors (spread by Propellerhead) were confirmed this weekend (by Propellerhead) as true! The makers of Reason have unveiled their new Digital Audio Workstation product, Propellerhead Record, and you can get in on the beta testing action between now and Record's official release date, September 9, 2009. Man, how did they ever come up with a name like "Record"?!  

There's a rumor going 'round, and here's the reason: according to FutureMusic.com, Propellerhead is set to unveil a new digital audio workstation program, one that -- get this -- can actually record audio. We'll have to wait until the Propellerhead Producer's Conference on May 9th to find out exactly what that means, but that hasn't stopped the blogosphere from speculating like a BearStearn's rep unloading CDOs.  

Take notice: Propellerhead asks the questions that no one else will. For example, "who's using our products?" If you want the answer to this and no other questions, check out the new Propellerhead Artist Patch Chart webpage, a confusingly-named and possibly informative marketing strategy.  

Reason 4 owners can get a direct injection of experimental studio sounds courtesy of Pascal Gabriel's Melophobia Machine ReFill. It's the best thing to come out of Belgium since they invented square waffles.  

Ant Neely uses the slightly old Reason 2.5. Although he plans to upgrade he says that switching horses in midstream doesn't work in westerns -- or with DAWs. Neely chats about how he uses Reason and why he loves it.  

In order to raise their profile, the Bob Moog Foundation has partnered with Propellerheads to offer a Moog-inspired Reason Refill as a free download to all registered Reason 4 users. Properllheads has also made a significant donation to the foundation, employing the same guilt-tripping technique my mother used to use in order to get me to play the violin in front of my grandmother.

If you think Propellerhead Reason beats are weak, try telling that to Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, DJ Pierre, the guy with the Dr. Robotnik haircut from Prodigy, or a number of other huge acts who incorporate Reason into their work. They'll probably just laugh at you and then knock you unconscious with a huge sack of money.

Propellerhead Reason 4's new step sequencer can help users make a lot of changes to their sounds. We took a look at the step sequencer already, and now it's time to fire it up and really mess things around to the extreme.

There are so many different effects you could use in Propellerhead Reason 4 that if it wasn't for a convenient parameter window, you'd wear out your scroll wheel pretty quickly. It's a little known fact that the Norse God of Thunder, Thor, was also the Norse God of Synthesized Passages, though given that many polytheist Gods are the gods of several different things, this is not too hard to believe. Whether you agree with the vikings or not, Thor is powerful as a polyphonic synth in Reason 4.
