Radial Engineering Radial PowerPre Mic Preamplifier Introduced
New from Radial Engineering, the Radial PowerPre microphone preamplifier fits inside a standard API-style lunchbox frame, delivers up to 60 dB of gain, and features a differential design with discreet components throughout.
The PowerPre sports a front-panel mounted XLR input for easy access from desktop workstations, and a second XLR input via the lunchbox frame for traditional patchbay setups. Access phantom power via the protective recessed switch, which is displaced on purpose to help you avoid accidental activation that would harm older vintage ribbon mics.
Other features include a ground lift for the XLR output, 180º polarity reverse, a 10-segment LED for optimum signal monitoring, and transformer isolation to eliminate hum buzz caused by ground loops. According to the manufacturer, the Radial PowerPre's many features make for a mic pre that delivers ultra-low noise and a nice, vintage feel.
Expect the PowerPre to be released in February of 2010 for $500 MSRP or approximately $449.99 Street.
