The Nimbus Pro, From Rain Recording UK
So it looks a little like a Wii on steroids, but that might not be far from the truth: Rain Recording UK has released the "most sophisticated, quiet, and powerful audio workstation to date," the Nimbus Pro.
The specs on this are, of course, very impressive. Built around Intel's Core 2 Quad processor and featuring 8GB of RAM and a terabyte of recording space in a RAID-0 configuration, the Nimbus Pro seems well-designed to produce sounds as heavenly as its name. The machine's GeForce 7300GT graphics processor is passively cooled, and the computer is constructed with a "deadly quiet" combination of acoustic lining, anti-vibration hard drive enclosures, and an extra large CPU cooler.
The Nimbus Pro is available in two models: the Q1, which comes with Vista 32-bit edition, and the Q2, which ships with Vista 64 ultimate. The Q1 is available for a tidy £1,899 and the Q2 for £2,849.
